                      MEI Bing was born in July 1967 in Langzhong City of Sichuan Province. Mei is a Ph. D program supervisor, a professor of the Key Laboratory of Brain Functional Genomics. She is now University Council chairwoman of ECNU.

                      Education & Work Experience

                      Mei received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree of science from the Department of Biology at ECNU in 1989 and 1992 in succession. In 1992, she began her career as a teacher at ECNU. While working as a teacher, she also worked as a student advisor in the university from September 1992 to July 1996. She was granted the lectureship, associate professorship and professorship in 1992, 2000 and 2009 respectively. She began to work as the vice director of the Office of University Council of ECNU, and vice director of the Key Laboratory of Brain Functional Genomics in succession from March 2000 to November 2002. She began to study part-time for her Ph. D degree in the School of Life Science at ECNU in September 2002 and received her Ph. D degree in life science in January 2007. She worked as a visiting scholar in the Department of Pharmacology of Medical Center at Boston University from February 2005 to August 2006. She began to work as the director of the Human Resources Division of ECNU in June 2011. She began to work as an assistant president and director of the Human Resources Division of ECNU in December 2012. She became a vice president and a member of the University Council of ECNU in July 2013.

                      Academic Background

                      Dr. Mei once engaged in the research of pathogenesis and pharmacology of cardiovascular diseases and cancers. She has focused her research in the field of neurobiology since 2005 and put her efforts mainly in the research of the molecular mechanism of learning and memory, and the pathogenesis of neural degenerative diseases.

                      To date, Dr. Mei has published more than 40 research papers, over 20 of which are SCI papers. She has presided over a “ State 973 Project”, several National Natural Science Fund Projects and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission Key Projects. As a professor with devotion to teaching, Dr. Mei has co-edited two teaching materials and now works as Associate Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Biology Education.
